SEO In A Nutshell
~ Online marketing can be a difficult business, especially if you don’t know how to map it out with a strategy. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be overlooked or left behind in the beginning of any business.
We were competitive swimmers growing up and we can tell you honestly that when we started our business SEO, like a couple of other things, didn’t make it onto our radar of importance. We were so excited to get started we just “dove into the deep end” and started swimming! What seemed easy turned out to be really frustrating.
First we’ll briefly explain a little about SEO, give an alert and then finish our story.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a methodology of strategies, techniques and tactics used to increase the amount of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP) — including Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines.
- A Search Engine Results Page (SERP) is the page displayed by a search engine in response to a query by a searcher. The main component of the SERP is the listing of results that are returned by the search engine in response to a keyword query, although the page may also contain other results such as advertisements.
It’s a marketing study focused on flourishing visibility in organic (non-paid) search engine outcomes. SEO includes both the technological and creative elements required to improving position or ranking, driving that much needed traffic to increase awareness in search engines. Sometimes SEO is simply a matter of performing and making sure your place is structured in a way that search engines understand.
People, through search queries, are looking for what you offer and search engines are like roadways where all the traffic runs.
IF search engines can’t find your site, or add your content to their databases, you miss out on them driving traffic to your site. SEO also helps boost rankings so that content will be placed where searchers will easily find it which are the first pages of Google.
Targeted traffic to your website can provide publicity, revenue, and exposure like no other channel of marketing. Investing in SEO can have a huge rate of return compared to other types of marketing. Depending on the niche it can be expensive like plastic surgeons and lawyers. They sometimes pay upwards of $10. or more every time someone clicks on their advertised link! Yikes!
Can I Do SEO For Myself?
